    Service Animals In The Workplace/What An Employer Needs To Know

    Participants will learn: what laws lead to the potential for “service animals” sometimes being required in the workplace; how do those laws lead to the potential for “service animals” sometimes being required in the workplace; what is a “service animal”; how to handle a request by an employee to bring their “service animal” into the workplace; certification of “service animals”; where do “emotional support animals” fit in or do they; can a “service animal” or an “emotional support animal” ever be considered an “undue hardship” and more.

    Robert J. Kent (Bob) with Bowles Rice law firm.  Bob concentrates his practice in employment law (employer side) and civil litigation.  He has defended/tried a multitude of cases in his 40+ years of practice.

    Bob has handled a variety of matters including but not limited to: age, disability, race religion and sex discrimination; harassment based upon a protected class; wrongful discharge; sexual harassment; breach of contract; and violation of non-compete provisions.

    Bob has advised and represented a large contingent of employers in West Virginia, Ohio, and other states regarding employment practices. Such topics include advice regarding terminations, promotions, transfers, reassignment of employees, layoffs, wage payment, overtime, employee classification, policy manuals/employment handbooks, unemployment compensation, representation regarding discrimination claims, advice regarding the Fair Labor Standards Act, sexual harassment and other forms of prohibited harassment and training regarding various areas of employment practices, etc.
